A New Blog Focus

Hey guys! It’s been awhile! Summer has been a really busy time this year, with lots of change and adjustments and adventures. I’ve been thinking for awhile about changing things up a little bit around here, and now seems like the perfect opportunity! I’ve written plenty of posts about modesty- and plan to continue doing so in the future! But now it’s time for a change.

I have a few posts ideas that I’m excited to write! I’d really like to focus more on how we can be a light in today’s world. As teenage girls, we are often bombarded with worldly ideas of self-image, beauty, and worth. It’s really hard, and I want to address it more on my blog. I’ve actually been working on a devotional called Beautiful Days for the past few months, and sometimes I would like to share excerpts or updates from that!

A few weeks ago I sat down and thought, If I had one book to write for teenage girls, what would I want to say? I love to write, so dreaming up book ideas is not unusual for me. But this really caught my attention as something I might like to do. While I may never write a book like that, I can use this site as a platform to share whatever the Lord puts on my heart.

I work at a crisis pregnancy center, and I often hear clients’ stories. The number of girls, whether teens or in their twenties, that feel empty and unfulfilled is so disheartening. They’ve allowed themselves to believe lies about love and beauty and self-worth. We can know something better, because we can know the One who defines us! We can have freedom from all the world has to offer. That, along with a few other things, is going to be what I blog about.

I’ll still do life or outfit posts sometimes. They’re fun. But I really want this blog to be a place of encouragement. Where we’ll talk about what a godly teenage girl looks like in today’s world.

Thanks for coming along for the journey. So many of you have blessed me in more ways than you can know! I hope I can be even a small encouragement in return.

  1. Sounds amazing Melani! I have been blessed by your heart and the calling God has clearly given you. I may not be a teen anymore, but I look forward to reading your posts in the future and learning new things!

That is so cool what you mentioned about the One who defines us. I just read a story about a woman in a dire situation and she was talking about our names. How sin calls us so many names, but now that we are in Christ, we can no longer be defined by those names. Now, we are called by Christ and our names are now Child of the living God, Redeemed, Chosen, Holy. . . etc etc.

    Praying blessings for you girl!

    1. That’s so true! It is truly amazing that God lifts us out of a pit of despair and calls us His children. Thanks so much for that reminder!
I have truly been blessed by your blog and your friendship. (Your writing prompts are especially fun to read.) Many blessings!

  2. Aw, Melani! This was so thoughtfully written!
As much as I love your outfit posts, I am looking forward to something fresh and new! 🙂
Thank you for sharing your journeys about being feminine and godly in a world that despises it!
